Chase

What are we chasing?
It seems we are always chasing something. Some are chasing this elation, this sense of excitement. But elation always depresses, and it is not stable.
We chase this temporary high that we just want to continue, we want it to last. But that elusive sense of elevation does not last, and we are always left wanting more. More, more, more.
But one is not meant to have more. One is meant to have what one has. A sense of dignity, your innate abilities, love. And when you do not allow yourself to come to fruition, rather you push for something that isn't yours to have, you will lose it and still be left with what you had all along.
Elation doesn't last, but balance does. Balance is steady, balance is assured. That lovely neutral - the in-between, the calm. It is the steady-state that doesn't not collapse under its own weight, but rather is perfectly content to be as it should be.
A balanced equation.
Love, as in all things when true, is a peaceful calm. It does not lie to you, nor deceive. It is built on a solid foundation, if it is to last. If it is actually love. You don't have to fight it; it doesn't elude you. Love is just there, to be received and be shared.
Love will wait; love will endure. Love is a comfort, to be sure. Just as that timeless energy that changes but does not fade, love will change but still remain.
Do you know love, or do you only know the chase? Does it leave you feeling fulfilled, or like there is something to be desired? Is it still there when you have gone? Is it faithful and steadfast, on a foundation of rock?
What are you chasing?
